Renfrewshire Cab Company is Renfrewshire’s largest private hire taxi company and comprehensively covers all of Renfrewshire, including Paisley, Renfrew, Linwood, Johnstone, Erskine and much of the Glasgow metropolitan area.

With over 500 cars, including saloons, estates, people carriers and wheelchair accessible vehicles, 24/7 service and a state of the art booking and dispatch system, we offer an unrivalled service to our customers.

Within our purpose-built call centre, which is based just over a mile from Glasgow Airport, our call centre team are capable of handling over 65,000 calls per week and pride themselves on being able to offer our customers a service that is second to none.

Renfrewshire Cab Company is proud of its modest beginning and rapid rise which has seen it progress from two small Paisley based companies to the largest single private hire company in Renfrewshire and among the largest in Scotland.


May 1999 – Central & Z form Paisley Cabs


Central Cab Company and Z Cars merged to form Paisley Cab Co – an event that changed the private hire industry across Renfrewshire – this was all done with the long-term aim of uniting several private hire companies throughout the towns and villages of Renfrewshire.

2003 – Our first People Carrier goes onto the road


Our first MPV joined the fleet in 2003. Our People Carriers would later become a very popular part of the organisation for group bookings.

Gryffe Cab Company acquired


We later went on to take on the business of Gryffe Cab Co which was based in Bridge of Weir on the outskirts of Renfrewshire. This was the first small step took to develop the company into an unrivalled transportation brand for customers across the West of Scotland.

Late 2007 – IVR launches


Our popular IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system quickly gained popularity in the local area as customers were given yet another way of booking with the company. Previous pick-ups were stored for customers to book from using the keypad on their phone.

March 2008 – Clyde One joins us


Our organisation grew once again as Erskine-based operation Clyde One joined us, with more vehicles driving with us than ever before.

November 2012 – The move from Auriga to Cordic


In late 2012, we upgraded from Auriga to our existing system, Cordic. The improvement in technology to a more modern, up-to-date system offered more features that were greatly beneficial to our customers.

October 2011 – Renfrewshire Cabs acquire Arkleston Radio Cars


With the acquisition of Arkleston Radio Cars in Renfrew, this meant we also gained our Renfrew Office, where we also operate from. The office is based at 180 Paisley Road and is staffed by Caroline and Marion while Isabel joins them at the weekends.

August 2013 – Kab Cars


RCC take over Kab Cars, which were based in Johnstone. Once again, this meant we could continue to provide a reliable service to our customer while also decreasing waiting times with more drivers working under the single brand.

December 2012 – Mobile booking app launches


The app, which is available on iOS and Android devices, means customers have a variety of ways to book with us. It also adds additional features, like adding favourite pick-up and tracking your booking in real time.

March 2014 – Mossedge Radio Cars


Linwood company Mossedge Radio Cars are the latest private hire firm to join our Renfrewshire-wide operation, which is incomparable regionally in terms of scale.

May 2017 – Innovative ‘Night Cafe’ opens


Our partnership with Alyson Finnigan, who owns several bars, restaurants and nightclubs on New Street, began in May 2017. Following discussions with our management team as well as the Licensing Department at Renfrewshire Council and colleagues at Police Scotland we piloted the idea to much success. Door steward Avril Taylor maintains a taxi ‘pick-up point’ in front of Kilty Kilty at the weekend. This means customers always get in the right vehicle safely, while they can also wait inside and order food and drink before the vehicle arrives.

June 2017 – First Chip and Pin machines installed


The arrival of Chip and Pin machines allows customers to pay for their taxi at the end of the journey on one of our card machines. The devices also have the option to pay using traditional Chip and Pin, via contactless or using Apple Pay and Google Pay on your mobile phone.

March 2018 – Facebook page reaches 4,000 likes


Our Facebook page has skyrocketed in terms of local popularity locally in the past several years. We use this as a platform to give back to our customers through competitions and giveaways as well as charity work. We also provide regular system updates at peak periods, including weekends and during severe weather.

May 2018 – Our Millionth Booking


Our one millionth job on our new system was booked on Saturday 26th May 2018 at around 20:58. The passenger was making a short journey from Shortroods in our Gockston queue over to Seedhill in the East End.

December 2018 – New smarter IVR launches


After much planning and hard work our new Interactive Voice Response system came into use. The state of the art features include being able to contact your driver direct, cancel your booking without speaking to an operator as well as extra telephone lines being added to enable customers to make a booking quicker than ever before!

May 2019 – Celebrating 20 years in Renfrewshire


Later this year we’ll be celebrating 20 years serving the public of Renfrewshire. Renfrewshire Cabs have been at the forefront of innovation over the past two decades, just imagine the difference in how you now book with us. We’ll have more on this nearer the time!

September 2019 – Move to a brand new state of the art system


On Tuesday 3 September 2019 we moved to a brand new fleet, state of the art dispatch system, iCabbi. The system allows us to increase our automation levels through better booking platforms for our customers. To coincide with the launch, we also moved to a brand new office, downstairs from our previous base.
